Spray dryer for the flavour industry
Saurin Enterprises has specifically designed and built a range of spray dryers for the flavour
industry. These are promoted as ideal for drying flavours and colours; treating the product gently
and retaining high levels of flavour. This range has been designed for the cost conscious customer
who would like to own a spray dryer but does not want to make a large investment.
The smallest spray dryer in the range is SC40 and is capable of 15 kg evaporation per hour. The
size of the chamber is designed for long residence time and gentle product treatment. Despite the
low cost, the dryer comes complete with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) system and all the
parameters are controlled automatically. A peristaltic pump feeds the liquid to Saurin Twin Fluid
Nozzle. The spray dryer maintains an accuracy of +/- 1C on the inlet and outlet temperature set
points. The Control System has been designed in a joint project with Monash University. The dryer
does not need a dedicated operator and can operate with minimal level of operator intervention.
The standard dryer is supplied skid mounted and needs only power and compressed air connection.
As options, customers can choose baghouse, Stainless Steel Structure, SS316 construction,
Pharmaceutical compliance, scrubber, alternative heating system, fluid bed for cooling, powder
hopper and bag sealing system. Product development assistance using pilot facilities is also
available.
